Baked Ziti

Kind of complicated for a baked pasta dish, but the results are worth it. The fresh mozzarella and fresh bread crumbs make a big difference. You could probably used jarred tomato sauce to cut down on prep time.
Has Kim tried this? Yes

Bechamel Sauce

5 tbsp butter

4 tbsp flour

3 c milk

2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp nutmeg

Melt butter. Add flour and whisk until smooth. Cook 6 – 7 minutes over medium-low heat.

Heat milk until just about to boil. Add milk 1 cup at a time to roux, whisking continuously. Cook 10 minutes.

1 lb ziti

2 c tomato sauce

2 c bechamel sauce

1 lb fresh mozzarella, cut into 1/2 in cubes

1/2 c. grated Parmesan

1/2 c. fresh bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook ziti according to package directions, minus a minute. Drain, rinse, and drain again.

In large casserole dish, add ziti, tomato sauce, bechamel sauce, and cheeses, and stir. Top with bread crumbs and bake for twenty minutes. Let sit for at least 5 minutes before serving.
